THE NATIONS: MEETING 5
Study
Read Matthew 28:16–20 (Part 3 of 3)
- “Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” Vs. 19
Describe what baptism is, and what it isn't.
Resource: View Baptism - “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you” Vs. 20
How does one teach a disciple to obey, rather than just know? Answer this on your own. If necessary, read Local Starting Points 8 and 11.
- “And be sure of this: I am with you always.” Vs. 20
Share four reasons Jesus reminds us that He is always with us as we fulfill the Great Commission?
Watch
Silence is Arrogance (2:45)
- "If Jesus did rise from the dead, then it is the height of arrogance to sit idly by while millions of unbelievers go to hell. It is the epitome of hate not to sacrifice our lives to spread this good news among every people group on the planet."
Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

You Were Made For Missions (2:12)
- "Your heart was made to embrace the global dimension of missional living. If you don't have a global heart, if you're not getting your arms around the unreached peoples of the world, there will be a mild or serious sickness in your soul because your soul was made to do this."
Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

All excerpts are from The Abrahamic Revolution by Todd Ahrend.
- “Of the top ten countries represented in American universities... six are populated by unreached peoples” (Chapter 16)
As a group, develop a four step strategy to reach international students attending a nearby school. After discussing, read below.
- “A. T. Pierson once said, ‘Christians need to be converted to missions, just as [much as] the lost do to Christ’” (Chapter 17)
Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

- Describe where you are in your journey of becoming SOGY (Supporting Others or Going Yourself).
- Choose your next step. Where to from here? Do you want to continue the journey? If so, which POD is next?
Pray
Reflect on what you learned this week and let it guide you as your group prays together.

Answer from above.
"In surveys of internationals who became believers in the United States, two recurring themes appear. First, a Christian befriended them; not merely an acquaintance or a name without a face, but someone who expressed real love to them, served them, and genuinely wanted to spend time with them. Through this friendship, the international saw Christ. Second, someone took the time to provide a Bible in their language and was willing to work through their questions. In most cases this was their first time to actually read it for themselves. A patient Christian friend and the Word of God can be an incredible witness to internationals."1
