- “If you have men who will only come if they know there is a good road, I don’t want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.”
Is the gospel worth going where there is no road? Explain.
The following excerpts are from David Livingstone: Africa’s Trailblazer by Janet Benge.
- “Chief Sechele began to ask David many questions about his religion. He wanted to know why, if it was so important for people to hear of this God, had it taken so long for white men to come and tell the Africans about Him. This was one question David had no answer for.” (locations 1460–62).
Give three reasons why it may have taken so long to bring the gospel to unreached tribal peoples? - “In August 1865, David Livingstone left England for the last time. As he left, his heart was heavy.” (locations 2796–98).
Gospel workers have always faced hard, good-byes, and painful departures. What might be the hardest for you if you accepted the invitation to become involved in tribal missions?
What would cause you to continue to move forward?

Answers
Embarking on a mission trip without knowing every detail can have its merits for several reasons:
- Dependence on God's Guidance: Lack of detailed information encourages reliance on God's guidance throughout the journey. It fosters a dependence on divine leading rather than relying solely on human understanding and plans.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Limited details allow for greater flexibility and adaptability to unexpected situations. Mission trips often involve dynamic and unpredictable circumstances, and having room for flexibility enables better responsiveness to the needs and challenges encountered along the way.
- Spiritual Growth and Trust: Navigating a mission trip with incomplete details can lead to spiritual growth and increased trust in God's providence. It provides opportunities for participants to witness and experience God's faithfulness in unforeseen circumstances, strengthening their trust in His guidance and provision.
