PRAY

Prayer centers around the seven elements of a Disciple Making Movement (DMM), often likened to sails. Just as a sailing vessel requires two actions for movement—raising the sails (man's responsibility) and the wind filling the sails (God's sovereign choice)—DMM Prayer acknowledges both human initiative and divine guidance.

Refer to the DMM Sails diagram for a visual representation.

DMM Prayer can be conducted individually or as a group. In a group setting, designate one person to call out the next element after the group completes prayer for the previous one. The elements serve as guides rather than rigid topics, allowing prayer to flow as led.
PRAYER ELEMENTS

Commence prayer sessions by sharing God stories, celebrating instances of answered prayers. The prayer agenda includes the following elements:

  1. Focus on God's Word: Select a book from the Bible and pray through it section by section, drawing inspiration for prayer from the Scripture.

  2. Multiply Extraordinary Prayer: Pray for the emergence of more Disciple Making prayer gatherings, and pray for individuals who need to be encouraged to initiate their own prayer meetings.

  3. Cast Vision: Pray for opportunities to share the vision of disciple making, specifically targeting individuals whom God brings to mind.

  4. Train Believers: Pray for effective instruction in disciple-making principles, particularly for those being prepared.

  5. Go Out Among the Lost: Engage in prayer for reaching out to those who are lost, seeking persons of peace—individuals receptive to learning about God and the process of disciple making. This includes those you've encountered who are open to further interaction.

  6. See Groups Start: Pray for the establishment of new Discovery Groups, evolving into vibrant Disciple Making Communities. Specifically lift up those who are at the brink of initiating or who are already forming their own discovery groups.

  7. Ongoing Coaching: Continue to pray for effective mentoring and coaching for those trained in disciple making, including those whom you are currently coaching.
