MULTIPLY explores the seven elements of a disciple making movement (DMM). User-friendly resources and built-in action steps foster progress in the disciple-making journey.
Multiply is a comprehensive resource designed for those seeking to become effective at making disciple makers and ignite a disciple-making movement (DMM). It comprises multiple sessions patterned after the seven elements of a disciple making movement (see below). Each session is accompanied by action steps and recommended resources. The objective of each session is to instill lasting habits in the lives of participants. As a result, completing Multiply may span several months. The emphasis is not merely on "going through the material," but rather on allowing the insights from each session to transform one's life habits and practices.

FOCUS ON GOD'S WORD
Personal devotional time serves as the cornerstone of any disciple-making movement. Engaging with Scripture through reading, obeying, and sharing it forms a fundamental discipline.
One effective tool for this purpose is the One Thing Study, known for its simplicity, effectiveness, and power. It redirects individuals from a knowledge-centered approach to discipleship towards one focused on obedience-based disciple-making.
Action Steps:
1. Cultivate the habit of incorporating the One Thing Study into your personal devotional routine.
2. Introduce the One Thing Study to your disciples by explaining its methodology, facilitating practice sessions, and demonstrating its application through your own example.
3. Progress to the next stage only after your key disciples have established the habit of regularly conducting One Thing Studies in their personal devotional time.

MULTIPLY EXTRAORDINARY PRAYER
Every disciple-making movement is marked by a robust prayer movement—a unified, passionate, and unwavering outpouring of petitions. The book of Acts vividly illustrates how every significant breakthrough in the early church was propelled by sincere prayer. Through prayer, we access God's presence, aligning ourselves with His purposes and unleashing His power to advance His Kingdom. Extraordinary prayer entails dedicating more time and intensity to praying for a disciple-making movement than what is currently being practiced.
Action Steps:
Initiate a personal prayer routine using the Pray resource guideline as a reference.
Form a prayer group comprising three or more individuals committed to regular gatherings focused on praying for a disciple-making movement. These gatherings can take place either in person or online.
Progress to the next session only after cultivating the habit of praying for a disciple-making movement individually and as a group, with regular meetings.

CAST VISION
Casting Vision involves crafting a concise and compelling statement that invites individuals to join the journey of making disciples who, in turn, make disciples. This statement should resonate with those who are eager to engage in disciple-making rather than those content to remain on the sidelines. For example, a straightforward personal invitation such as, "I'm forming a group that is trains people to make disciples who make disciples. Are you interested?" can effectively draw in individuals ready to embark on this transformative journey.

GO OUT AMONG THE LOST
Taking the initiative to engage lost individuals is a foundational principle of disciple-making movements (DMM). This can manifest in various ways, such as spontaneous witnessing during daily activities using the FARM conversation. Or using Prayer Walk to deliberately target potentially receptive individuals, including those categorized as PIPSY (Poor, Internationals, Prisoners, Sick, and Youth). Additionally, individuals who have experienced God's love through access ministries (such as providing food or clothing) are often especially open to receiving spiritual conversation.
Action Steps:
1. Familiarize yourself with and practice both witnessing tools—the FARM conversation and Prayer Walk.
2. Train your key disciples in utilizing these witnessing tools through explanation, practice, and modeling.
3. Progress to subsequent sessions only after your group has demonstrated proficiency in using these tools and incorporating associated practices into their approach to engaging with the lost.

STARTING DISCOVERY GROUPS
Discovery Groups are initiated by persons of peace, guided by the Holy Spirit. While there's some involvement in the process, the primary responsibility for forming and leading Discovery Groups lies with others.
Action Steps:
Prioritize prayer. Seek God's guidance and intervention in the hearts of those who have shown readiness to initiate a Discovery Group through consistent story sharing.

Disciple involves the following crucial phases: training potential individuals (referred to as "persons of peace"), coaching, leadership development, and receiving coaching yourself.
Training Persons of Peace (PoP) involves multiple stages aimed at equipping individuals to effectively engage in disciple-making activities. The initial step in this process is to assess whether the person identified during the previous phase is capable of storytelling. Typically, this is determined by observing whether they share a different story on at least three separate occasions. The stories utilized for this purpose are drawn from the DBS Story Sets.
Once it is established that the individual is indeed a storyteller, the focus shifts to providing training in Discovery Bible Study (DBS). This training usually consists of three sessions, each encompassing explanation, modeling, and practice. Initially, the training is conducted with the trainer facilitating the first session, followed by two subsequent sessions where others take on the role of facilitator. This comprehensive approach ensures that the individual gains proficiency in conducting DBS sessions.
Coaching: Following the training, the focus shifts to coaching, involving regular (not necessarily weekly) meetings for encouragement and review. This phase is pivotal for maintaining momentum and fostering ongoing growth in disciple making. Adhering to a straightforward three-step coaching process outlined in Coach facilitates effective support.
Leadership Development: As coaching advances, it's beneficial to leverage the array of resources available:
Receiving Coaching: Receiving guidance from experienced practitioners is crucial. Establishing consistent meetings with mentors. Note; completion of the DMM training above includes access to weekly national online coaching sessions, enriching your journey of growth.
Following this structured approach not only equips individuals to become disciple makers, but fosters personal development. This cyclic process of training, coaching, leadership development and being coached establishes a sustainable framework for multiplication and lasting impact.

This resource requires both inside training and outside practice. Plan ahead of time where you will explain, and where you will practice the Prayer Walk. Ask the group at the end of the session if they want more training.
Ask: (20 minutes)
Discuss how your obedience steps have progressed since the last session.
Explain: (20 minutes)
- Read Prayer Walk as a group before the actual event.
- Watch and discuss Compassion (8:04) and Person of Peace (5:41). Watch these before going out, as they provide clarity and understanding.
Practice: (50 minutes)
As a group, go to a location. Once there, from teams of two.
Debrief: (30 minutes)
- After each encounter, ask, "What did you just learn?"
- Then gather as a group (perhaps over a meal) and discuss, "What did you just learn?"
- Follow up within 24 hours with potential persons of peace. Begin teaching them the tools and resources you've learned.
This resource often requires one training session. Ask the group at the end of the session if they want more training.
Ask: (20 minutes)
Talk about your actions following the last session.
Explain:
Read about One Thing Study. Skip the extra information for now; we'll cover that during our discussion.
Practice: (50 minutes)
Each small group selects the same Bible passage. Read it aloud, then give everyone time to read it individually. Ask each person to mark the one word or phrase that resonates with them the most. Have individuals share what they marked and why. After everyone has shared, encourage silent prayer on their chosen "one thing." Repeat the process if time allows. This session moves quickly.
Debrief: (30 minutes)
- Discuss what everyone thought of the One Thing Study, emphasizing the main idea rather than the details.
- Read One Thing Study: More Information.
- Watch the video The Bible Is Alive (2:09)
Apply: (one month)
- Start doing One Thing Studies.
This resource often requires one training session. Ask the group at the end of the session if they want more training.

Explain: (20 minutes)
Read about FARM conversation. Ignore the extra information boxes for now; we'll go over those during the discussion.
Practice: (50 minutes)
Break into groups of 3-4 (if the group is large) and do a FARM Conversation. One person asks another a Family question, the person who answered, then asks another an Academic (or Occupation) question, that person then asks another a Recreation question, and finally, that person asks another a Message question.
Have fun, ask follow-up questions, and enjoy the process. If time allows, do another round, ensuring everyone gets a chance to ask a Message question. If you know the person well, say, "Tell me something about _________ that I don't already know."
Debrief: (30 minutes)
- Discuss what people thought of the FARM conversation tool, focusing on the concept rather than the details.
- Read the bold print from FARM Conversation: More Information 1.0 and 2.0 Just read the bold print. Avoid overwhelming with too much information.
Apply: (one month)
- Start having FARM conversations.

Explain: (20 minutes)
Read, Pray.
Practice: (50 minutes)

- Briefly share thoughts about DMM Prayer, focusing on the idea, not the details.
- Watch and discuss Prayer (9:55)
- Do Pray at least once a week
- Create a group of 3 or more, that practices Pray together.
This resource often requires three training meetings. The trainer can facilitate the first meeting with others filling the role in the following meetings.
Ask: (20 minutes). Starting Meeting #2.
Explain: (20 minutes)
Read Discovery Bible Study (DBS), excluding Discovery Groups or Story Sets for now. Those will be covered during debrief.
Practice: (50 minutes)

Multiply is a training resource designed to equip individuals to become disciple-makers who replicate the process with others. Each session follows a pattern of training and coaching. The training phase can span 1-3 sessions depending on the readiness of the participants, while coaching involves weekly support during a one-month application period following each training session. Coaching may involve various forms of contact, such as face-to-face meetings, text messages, or phone calls. The point is that it encourages progress.
The first tool introduced in Multiply is the Discovery Bible Study (DBS). After mastering this tool, participants have the option to proceed with learning any of the four additional tools: FARM conversation, Prayer Walk, Pray, and One Thing Study.
Upon completing the first tool, participants are encouraged to join an online coaching program through a private Facebook Group and monthly Zoom calls. Those who successfully master all five tools are further encouraged to enroll in the 8-week DMM training course.

Pathway is for existing churches who want to include disciple making movement practices into their present setting. It contains four key in-service elements and five essential satellite ministries.
Sometimes it is best to start a DMM service as a separate stand-alone event. Sometimes it's best to enfold the four key elements into an existing service. Seek the Holy Spirit for the wisest option and the pace of implementation.
It is highly recommended that you view the DMM Sails page and read the Megachurch to Multiplication book. The Sails page will give you a helpful overview of DMM. The book is an excellent description of DMM in the North American church context.

DMM SERVICE ELEMENTS
WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE
- Provide an attractive online presence. People visit virtually before they visit physically. See the following page for helpful information.
- Provide a pleasing pre-service experience. Friendly greeters, clear informational signage, secure and efficient children check in, and a comfortable sanctuary environment.
- Provide an encouraging post-service experience. Extended children pick up times, intentional mingle space and time (munchies, drink).
INSPIRING PRIASE
- Provide and outer court to inner court flow. Start with an upbeat, celebratory song with everyone standing. Then move to more contemplative, reflective songs with people seated. See this page for more information.
IRRESISTIBLE VISION. Cast Vision
- Share a simple, one sentence mission statement each week. It might even begin with "We exist to..." Vision time should become a major part of the service. Learn more here.
- Share God stories. Give people an opportunity to tell how God is using them to fulfill the mission of the church. Stories about disciple making.
- Invite people to relevant ministries. Begin vision time with a statement, include stories and end with a pathway involvement in one of the five satellite ministries.
- Be discussion oriented. Use a modified DBS format by asking what the passage says about God and man. Then, depending on the size of the audience, harvest answers from the audience or state the answers. Be ready to ask follow up questions. Learn more here.
- Be passage centered. Work through a book a passage at a time. They are the basic units of thought in Scripture. Let God's word tell you what to say, not the other way around.
