Train is a brief but crucial phase that follows the discovery of a person of peace, achieved either situationally through a FARM Conversation or intentionally through Prayer Walk.
Sometimes there is a transitional phase between discovering a person of peace and training them. This phase involves assessing if the potential person of peace is willing to share stories with others, helping determine if they should be prioritized and invested in.
The training phase consists of three key components: explaining, modeling, and debriefing. Explaining involves reading through the tools on this site and ensuring the person of peace understands the principles and practices of disciple-making. Modeling involves demonstrating how to use the resources and tools, then allowing the person of peace to practice them. It’s a hands-on approach that includes showing them how to use the resource and then observing as they do it themselves. Debriefing occurs after every training event and includes constructive feedback sessions. This helps reinforce what was learned, correct mistakes, and build confidence.
Training can focus on specific stand alone tools or comprehensive all-in-one resources. The entire training process is usually brief, encompassing three sessions for a specific tool: You do it while they watch (one time). They do it while you watch (two times). Or six sessions for comprehensive resources like Launch.
