Student Prayer Walk is a strategy for students to identify Persons of Peace (POPs), who are crucial for starting a disciple-making movement. POPs are students who welcome conversation, are receptive to prayer, listen to your testimony, and want to know more.
Prayer Walk takes place on campus with interested students who meet on a designated day (Tuesday) at a specific place and time, forming pairs, similar to Monday’s setup. The key difference is that these teams engage WITH other students.
Introduction: Approach others and introduce yourself as a follower of Jesus. Explain that you are there to encourage them by praying for them.
Engage: Ask if you can pray for them and inquire about their most pressing needs. Gently explore pain points to foster compassion. This is important, as it personalizes the conversation. Saying, "I'm sorry to hear that, tell me more about how you're dealing with it" can deepend the conversation.
Pray: Pray for the individuals based on their expressed needs.
Share: After praying share your 15-second testimony: "There was a time in my life when I was __________ and ____________. Then I met Jesus, put my trust in Him, and made Him number one in my life. Now I am ___________ and ______________. Do you have a story like this?"
Invite: Ask if they would like to know more about discovering God. If they express interest, schedule a time as soon as possible and teach them Student DBS.
