When we go straight to the Bible, the Holy Spirit speaks to us personally—bringing out the words we most need in that moment.

- Choose a passage of Scripture.
- Have someone read it aloud.
- Take a few quiet minutes to mark your “One Thing”—a word or phrase God highlights for you.
Then go around the group:
- After one person shares what they picked and why, another offers a short prayer.
- That person then repeats the process.
- Continue until everyone has shared.
Debrief by doing the following:
- A few people explain how to conduct a One Thing Study without referring to the notes.
- Finish by briefly discussing the potential benefits and downsides of the One Thing Study.
Action Time
- Do at least three One Thing Studies on your own this week.
- Be ready to share what you learned about this method at our next gathering.
