PODs are multi-week learning experiences suitable for small group or individual use. There are six PODs. One is about the Nations (go through this one first) and five about each of the five categories of unreached peoples. Go through these in any order. They are summarized as the THUMB (Tribal, Hindu, Unreligious, Muslim and Buddhist). Each POD is divided into five meetings. Each meeting contains the same six segments;
Study; a look at what the Bible has to say about God's heart for the nations.
View; key videos that speak about global missions to unreached peoples. Written quotes and follow up questions are included if you are unable to view the videos.
Discuss; a discussion from recommended books. Written quotes and follow up questions are included in each POD.
Respond; a chance to share your progress in the journey towards global missions and resources to explore on your own.
Pray; a time of group prayer focused on the topic of the POD.
Here are some important points for those leading a POD.
Prayer time at the end is intended to focus on the topic of the POD. The leader is encouraged to open with a short prayer and end with prayer focused on the topic of study. Due to the amount of material covered, PODs do not lend themselves to prolonged personal prayer requests unrelated to the topic of study.
Look over the material for each meeting ahead of time. Adapt the material to your particular group. The length of your meeting and how your group discusses things may require you to modify things. Feel free to extend a single meeting into two meetings if your group is unable to get through all the information for each meeting and does not want to skip any of the material.
Test your link-ups before the first meeting. We strongly suggest you arrange for the group to view the videos. Depending on the size of your group, they can view them on one large big screen, a laptop or handheld device. However, make sure you have the proper adaptor cables and wiring ahead of time. The videos are worth the effort!
